New York, November 2023 – Puglia’s latest appearance in New York City, during the eighth edition of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World, left an indelible impression. The event saw the participation of “Puglia in Rosé” in collaboration with the Region of Puglia, offering a real culinary show lasting three days. The event, held at the prestigious Italian Consulate in New York, was opened by Consul General Fabrizio Di Michele. His speech emphasized the importance of the link between taste, well-being, and environmental sustainability. Puglia, embracing the motto “Eat Well, Feel Wonderful,” presented an innovative course, earning the admiration of the New York audience. The rise of Apulia’s food and wine sector is evidenced by an 8 percent increase in exports, reaching a figure of 36.2 billion euros in the first eight months of 2023. This success is the result of the efforts of regions and companies, with a special focus on environmental sustainability and health. Gianluca Nardone, director general of the Department of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment of the Apulia Region, highlighted the orientation of local companies toward environmental protection. Caterina Baldini, president of Puglia in Rosé, stressed the importance of quality and innovation in the U.S. market. Testifying to the quality of Apulian products, Giovanni Zibillo of Gioiella presented the excellence of Apulian dairy products, while Beniamino Casillo of Molino Casillo illustrated the uniqueness of their wheat germ flour. A highlight was the Pizza Lab Master-Class at St. Matthew’s, where the marriage of culinary excellence and health benefits was unveiled. Here, products such as flour from Molino Casillo and dairy products from Gioiella have shown that healthy eating can also be delicious. The highlight of the event was a CookingLab held by Apulian chefs at CompassGroup’s CxRa. Here, they have brilliantly combined tradition and innovation while respecting the environment and human well-being. Pending the UNESCO decision, Apulia has strengthened its reputation as an emblem of gastronomic excellence and a pioneer of agrifood innovation. Companies such as Casillo, Gioiella, Granoro, Muraglia, Vespa Vignaioli and Puglia in Rosé emerge as key figures in this food renaissance, where quality, health and sustainability come together in a harmonious concept. Puglia, then, offers not just a taste of its cuisine, but a real journey where food and wine become a way of life, combining taste, well-being and respect for the planet.
